The Universe generally has a fairly extensive electrical infrastructure setup, including 110V and 12V electrical power, a sound system, and various forms of decorative and general-purpose lighting.
Although we don't advertise ourselves as a “sound camp”, we do generally bring a sound system to events. Camp members are encouraged to use it to play music, do performances, etc.
In recent years at Firefly, we have only been bringing a small stereo amplifier and outdoor speakers to provide music for the cafe. We will not generally bring a mixer or other audio equipment except by special request. At NECTR we typically bring a rackmount mixer, some processing gear, and larger speakers.
Additional equipment can be brought on request – if you have special sound needs, please talk to the sound/light/power lead.
The main areas of camp are all well-lit by a combination of white LED string lights and colorful lights / light-based art projects.
Personal campsite areas are not generally lit by the camp, but camp members often bring their own battery-powered lights to mark their tents at night.
Additional light-based art projects are welcome – please coordinate with the camp lighting lead for placement and power needs.
We have a single Honda EU2000i generator (1.6kW continous power output) and usually run it for ~18 hours / day throughout an event.
If you want to bring something that needs power, you must coordinate with the sound/light/power lead ahead of time to ensure that our power budget will be OK. You will probably be asked to bring your own extension cord(s) depending on where you plan to place your device.
